Today I am moving my recent writing to this personal blog. Since last April, I shared impressions of Stromstad, Sweden with Facebook friends. Now, my journey will continue here on my author site, created by my son Paul. Over the past two months in Boston, I completed seven chapters of a novel set in Viking times, enjoyed baking brownies with my granddaughters, visited with friends and family, walked with walking buddies, met the tremendous Academic Studies Press promotion team, then, wearing a mask, took public transportation and caught Covid (!) Sven and I fly back to Sweden this evening. The exciting news is that we have a publication date for my short story collection. The Nansen Factor will be published on June 18. My book can be pre-ordered through the Academic Studies Press web site. It is also up on Amazon.com and will soon be available through Bookshop.org. Pre-orders help with future sales, so please pre-order. Here’s a peek at the lovely cover, created by the multi-talented Whitney Scharer, author of The Age of Light.

I am eager to read The Nansen Factor and to follow your adventures on this blog. I would especially like to learn how Sandy of Paris became Alexandra of Stromstad.
You are a superb storyteller!
Thanks for the compliment, Pam. My parents called me Sandra, from Alexandra. Then, schoolmates turned Sandra into “Sandy.” I was “Sandy Beach” on the radio in Paris. Since first aspiring to become a published author, I’ve realized it is best not to confuse people on a name. Therefore, it’s back to Alexandra. Here in Stromstad, I tend to introduce myself to new people as Alexandra. I was named after an ancestor, Alexandra Orlov-Denisov Grabbe, granddaughter of Vasili Orlov-Denisov, whose forces caused Murat to retreat during the Napoleonic war. You can find this Alexandra online. There’s even a photo: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q101016764
I’m so excited to pre-order The Nansen Factor and can’t wait for your pub day, June 18th! Massive congrats, Sandy! And congrats on this website. It’s fabulous, and I’ll be a regular reader!
I’d like to order once it is available on bookshop, but if better to order from publishing website, advise me and I’ll to that.
Yes, better to pre-order from publishing web site. Thanks for the question, Catherine.
